Thailand SEC Advances Crypto ETF Regulations to Channel Investor Demand
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission is drafting new rules to support crypto exchange-traded funds, futures trading, and tokenized investments. The framework, expected early this year, aims to bring digital asset investments into regulated markets.
Asset managers and licensed crypto exchanges will collaborate to develop ETFs for listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. "Crypto ETFs eliminate hacking and wallet security concerns," said SEC Deputy Secretary-General Jomkwan Kongsakul.
The MOVE comes as Thailand's central bank grapples with economic challenges. Approved in principle last year, crypto ETFs are now undergoing final operational rulemaking to govern product structure and trading.
